April, MCI Heritage, 1st Round 73 (+2)
An up-and-down start of my first round with three bogeys, two birdies
and two pars after seven holes, including a drive out-of-bounds at
the par-5 6th. Then everything stabilised a little bit and I got back
to level par after an easy birdie on hole 12. Decent play overall
but I was very unlucky on 17 as the wind turned around when I hit
my second shot to the green. The ball landed in on of the greenside
bunkers with a very bad lie and I had a very disappointing double
bogey. That left me with a 74 for the day and tied 67th so I will
need to shoot par or better tomorrow to make sure I am around for
the weekend. I am trying to be patient and hopefully I will be able
to shoot a better score tomorrow. I’m now going to spend some
time on the practice ground and tomorrow I’m off for my second
round at 7.29 from the first so it will be an early night. Niclas

I really played OK today but after several bad club selections on
my front nine I was one over par for the round. I kept ending up
short of the green - not enough breakfast maybe? I made a birdie
on my 12th hole but after I hit it in the water on the 13th hole
and made double bogey, my score was really hurt. I only managed
to make one birdie on my last five holes, despite several chances
and I made a bad bogey 5 at 18. A disappointing score of 72 kept
me staying in the clubhouse to see if I get to play in the weekend,
but unfortunately it was one too many. That 5 at the last was a
real killer, but that's golf! Niclas 21 April, Shell Houston Open, Redstone GC, Texas
Today is a practise day for me as I am usually not playing in the
Wednesday pro-ams on the PGA Tour. I am off late tomorrow from the
10th at 1.20pm with Tom Pernice Jr and Pat Perez. My game feels
alright and I am hoping to get something going this week after my
missed cut last week, but I have to be patient at the same time.
My wife Marie arrived out yesterday from the UK with my son Adam
so it is great to see them again. Speak to you tomorrow, Niclas 22 April, Shell Houston Open, 1st Round 74 (+2)
Nice day out there, today, with a bit of wind. I started on number
10 and played quite alright. I two putted both par fives for birdies
and also birdied the 18th, but two three putts at 16 and 17 and
a bogey on 10 gave me level par at the turn. Again, two putts for
birdie on the par-5 1st hole, but after that I was struggling with
my game. I missed a lot of fairways and greens and bogeyed 6, 8
and 9 to finish at two over par. A very disappointing score and
I seem to be in a bit of a slump right now. We'll give it another
go tomorrow though. With a bit of luck things will turn around for
me. I am tied 94th so I will need 70 or better to make the cut,
but with 26 players on +1 after round one it is going to be tight.

Had to play good today, but started off with three bogeys at 1,
3 and 5. I steadied the ship with pars to the 11th hole, but then
bogeyed 12, 13 and 14. That bogey at the first sent all the wrong
signals and half scruffy play and several three putts sent resulted
in very bad scoring. Very disappointing. Again. A couple of birdies
at 15 and 17 made me want to come back for more, strange game. Will
practice here Saturday and head for New Orleans on Sunday. Talk
to you soon, Niclas.
28 April, HP Classic of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
In New Orleans this week and it is a very un-American city, with
a European heritage, especially French. The golf course this week
is a Nicklaus design with small tricky greens. It will be tough
if it gets windy but a beautiful place. Next year this tournament
moves to a new TPC course nearby. This is the trend on Tour with
the older style courses being exchanged for the modern TPC-style
courses, which is good and bad. I have an early start tomorrow at
7.15am with Brenden Pappas and Brent Geiberger from the 1st, which
should suit me fine! Speak to you after round 1. Niclas 29 April, HP Classic of New Orleans, 1st Round 71 (-1)
An up and down day on the course with five birdies and four bogeys.
Played alright in the beginning and was 2-under after 8 holes. However
a couple of bad shots on 9 and 10 gave me bogeys and I lost a little
bit of confidence in my shots. I mixed good and bad shots on the
back nine. The last four holes were scruffy but I really hung in
there and made good sand saves for par on the last three holes,
including and amazing 25 yard shot from a plugged lie on 16 to 3
feet. The round finished on a good note and I am looking forward
to tomorrow - I start at 12pm from the 10th. Tonight I am going
to a nice New Orleans restaurant with my family to celebrate my
birthday. See you, Niclas
