| 2 May, HP Classic of New Orleans, 2nd Round 76 (+4)
This is the first time ever that I wake up on a Sunday morning and
still have some work to do to finish my second round. The weather
was really terrible on Friday and not a single shot was played on
the course. On Saturday I started my 2nd round in the early afternoon
and like Thursday's round I mixed good and bad shots. One of my
biggest problems right now is the distance control of my shots,
so I am going to have to do something about that. After a birdie
at the first I dropped four shots by the 10th and then a back nine
of one birdie and two bogeys resulted in a bad round in general
and a missed cut again. I have decided to take a three week break
to rest and do some practice and workout. I need to re-group and
clear my head and come back out fresh again at the FedEx St Jude
Classic. Talk to you soon, Niclas
17 May, At Home In Sweden
Just a quick update from our summer home in Sweden. I have been
taking a break from the Tour and reflecting on the last few tournaments.
I felt I played well but I tried a few new things that didn't work
out and on the PGA Tour you get punished if you miss a fairway or
a green. I was try to be a bit looser in my swing and mind and overdid
it and ended up being not as confident as usual. I had been playing
amazing in practice but just could not take it on the course. Whilst
in Sweden I have been working with my coach Graham Crisp, who is
from London, but is based at my home club here in Sweden. We have
worked on a few things and I feel a lot better about my game now.
Tomorrow I am flying back to our London home for next week's Volvo
PGA Championship at Wentworth. Speak to you soon, Niclas
26 May, Volvo PGA Championship, Wentworth
After a three-week break I am now back on the European Tour to play
my first event of the year, Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth.
It is one of my favourite golf courses in Europe and I am really
looking forward to playing this week. My family and I are living
in Ascot and that allows me to stay at home during the tournament
with only a ten-minutes drive to the golf course, which is a luxury
that I only have had two times earlier in my whole career! During
my break I have been working a lot on my game with my swing-coach,
Graham Crisp. Hopefully it will give a positive result already this
week, even though I know that being patient is one of the best qualities
a golfer can have. I am now starting on a run of four tournaments,
ending with US Open after a hopefully successfully qualifying after
The Memorial on the US PGA Tour. Talk to you tomorrow after my first
round. Niclas
27 May, Volvo PGA Championship 1st round, 70 (-2)
First round in quite a while. It was a bit wild off the tee today
and only hit 4 fairways out of 14. The rest of my game was OK though
and a run of two under par felt OK in the end. I made three birdies
going out at 4, 6 and 7 but dropped one at 5 after another errant
drive. I was still unlucky on 17 when the ball moved a fraction
on the green as I was going to set up. I called a penalty shot on
myself and then missed the putt and a made bogey instead of the
birdie I was hoping for. Hope to get the tee shots working tomorrow
and we are back in business! Talk to you tomorrow! Niclas
28 May, Volvo PGA Championship, 2nd Round 77 (+5)
A very disappointing day. A treble bogey on the 3rd hole made it
tough but I hung in there and played OK. I birdied 4, 7 and 11 but
I needed more birdies and they didn't come often enough. I was still
on the number to make the cut at level par with 3 to play and when
I bogeyed 16 and only parred 17 I was under a lot of pressure. I
missed the tee shot on 18 and ended up with a double bogey 7 and
that was it pretty much it. Will go to America on Monday for the
Memorial Tournament. Speak to you then, Niclas
