| 13 January, Getting Ready For European Tour
I’m now getting prepared for my first tournament of the season,
the Caltex Masters in Singapore on the European Tour, played between
27-30 January. I have had a couple of months with a lot of practice
and some rest, well needed I must say, after a quite hectic schedule
last year when I was playing both the European and US Tours. I spent
last week in Florida with my swing coach Graham Crisp and some other
Swedish players at a special training camp called Camp Excellence,
arranged by the Swedish Golf Federation. Warm weather, very nice
golf courses and long practice days was a very good start of the
2005 season for me. I hope to achieve much better results this year
and focusing on only one tour, the European one, might be a key
to success for me. Speak to you soon, Niclas
26 January, Caltex Masters, Singapore
Arrived last Thursday together with my family to a hot and humid
Singapore. Have had enough time to settle in to the new time zone,
eight hours ahead of London. I have also had time to practice and
get to know the golf course. Laguna Golf and Country Club where
we are playing this week is very nice, but the grass is very different
to what we are used to in Europe. I played the Pro-Am today and
we had a great time together. I'm off the 10th tee tomorrow at 8.20am
together with Scott Drummond and Prayad Marksaeng. I'm very much
looking forward to the start of my 2005 season and hope to start
off with a good result this week. All the best, Niclas.
27 January, Caltex Masters, 1st Round, 81 (+9)
This was definitely not the start of the 2005 season that I was
hoping for. I struggled somewhat with a bogey at the 10th, my first,
but the biggest reason for my unexpectedly high score was the 13th,
a 383 yards long par 4 where I hit the water three times and finished
the hole with a 9. I had many more disappointing holes during my
round, with a double at 17 and 3, but I made a couple of birdies
at 2 and 5. I will of course go out there tomorrow and play my very
best to make the cut, even if it's very unlikely now. I will also
do a lot of practice before I leave for Melbourne on Sunday evening.

28 January, Caltex Masters, 2nd Round, 73 (+1)
Started my second round with a couple of birdies but a three putt
on the 3rd together with some missed drives stopped the good scoring.
I played OK today except for my driving and 1 over par for the round
did not reflect how I hit the ball. My wedge to 2 feet on the last
hole hopefully set the tone for what is to come. I know what to
practice and feel pretty good about the coming weeks. I am flying
to Melbourne on Sunday and am going to use tomorrow to get some
work in on the range. Bye for now, Niclas.
